04/22/2025 00:00:00 Get The Look: The Kitchen From It's Complicated.

The kitchen in the hit Nancy Meyers movie It's Complicated is easily one of the most iconic movie kitchens of all time. It's the kind of space that feels like a warm hug - full of effortless style, lived-in comfort, and collected charm.

What makes this kitchen so special is its sense of lived-in luxury. The space is not overly styled or pristine, but every detail feels intentional. You can tell it was thoughtfully designed by someone who loves to cook and gather with loved ones.

Whenever the camera lingers in that space, you can practically smell the fresh coffee brewing and warm croissants coming out of the oven. It's cozy, beautiful and timeless!

When I was in design school, I actually based one of my key projects on this kitchen and the bakery from the film - both spaces rich with inspiration!

If you're looking to recreate a bit of that same iconic magic in your own home, here are some ideas to get you started!

  1. White or Light Cream Cabinetry

classic and clean, it makes the space feel bright and timeless.

  1. Soft, Earthy Tones

Think taupes, warm white, and muted greens that add to the cozy vibe.

  1. Natural Textures

Linen tea towels and roman blinds, wooden bowls, and woven baskets bring in warmth and depth.

  1. Copper Pots + Pans

Hang them up for that rustic, well-loved European look.

  1. Mixed Metals

Blend copper, stainless steel and brass finishes for a layered, collected feel.

  1. Plenty of Greenery

A potted herb on the windowsill, olive branches, or a bunch of eucalyptus in a vase goes a long way.

  1. Wooden Utensils + Cutting Boards

Swap out plastic tools for wood to create a warmer, more curated kitchen.

  1. A Floating Wooden Island With A Wood/Marble Top

Perfect for prep work, extra storage + conversation.

  1. Portable Bar Cart

Extra storage and a bonus surface space for prepping food.

  1. Glass Pitchers + Cake Stands

Let's face it, glass just looks better than plastic! It instantly adds a touch of sophistication and old-world charm. Cake stands can playfully showcase fresh pastries, fruit, or even baked goods out and on display.

  1. White Dishware

Clean, simple and always elegant.
