I think it's safe to say that if you've ever had a place to call your own, rented or owned, you've probably made at least one trip to Ikea…or five…
Whether it was a Billy bookcase, a set of wine glasses, or that one bedframe you swore you'd never assemble again... Ikea has quietly found its way into nearly every home I know.
It's one of the most recognizable furniture and home goods brands on the planet, with nearly 500 locations in over 60 countries! But beyond the stats, it's reliable, affordable, surprisingly stylish, weirdly comforting and if you've ever built a piece with a partner, you'll know it can truly test the strength of a relationship.
When I moved into my first apartment at 19, I was living off hand-me-downs and Ikea basics, and honestly? I still have pieces from that era. These days, even when I'm in a local restaurant and spot a glass I like, I'll flip it over out of habit and sure enough, more often than not, it's Ikea.
No one is above Ikea. Not me, not you, not even the cool restaurants downtown. There's just something about it that makes a space feel like home, whether it's your first or your fifth.
